What is Pipe Flange? What Role does It Play in the Pipeline System?




Pipe flange is a ring-shaped structural component used to connect pipelines, valves or equipment in the pipeline system. Its main body is a flat disc with bolt holes evenly distributed on the edge. The core function of pipe flange is to achieve detachable sealing connection between pipelines and other components, and at the same time bear the transmission of internal pressure and external load of the system. Its design features include standardized interface size, aperture matching with pipelines and surface flatness to ensure the formation of a stable sealing surface when docking.

Pipe flange is based on the deep coupling of material science and structural mechanics. The grain boundary strengthening process of its flange assembly realizes the electron cloud rearrangement of the metal and polymer interface to form a gradient transition corrosion barrier. In the pipeline system, pipe flange fixes two sections of pipelines or equipment by bolting, and the sealing material is sandwiched in the middle to prevent fluid leakage. Compared with permanent welding, this detachable structure is convenient for later maintenance, overhaul or partial replacement, while reducing the efficiency loss caused by the disassembly of the overall system.


Pipe flange needs to adapt to different temperature, pressure and medium conditions. Its sealing performance and mechanical strength directly affect the safety and stability of the pipeline system.
