The white paper pointed out that since the new US government took office in 2017, it has been threatened by means such as tariff increase and has frequently provoked economic and trade frictions with major trading partners. Since March 2018, in response to the unilateral Sino-US economic and trade friction initiated by the US government, China has to take effective measures to resolutely defend the interests of the country and the people. At the same time, China has always adhered to the basic position of resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation, carried out multiple rounds of economic and trade consultations with the United States, and strived to stabilize bilateral economic and trade relations.
